Dongle protection |
Lucid's products are protected from non-authorized
use by special devices called dongles. Each dongle is
so programmed as to keep the software running for a
specified period of time.
If you order our software for a trial period, which
usually lasts 14 days, you will receive a CD with the
installers of Lucid's products and a dongle which is
to be attached to the port of your computer. The dongle
is programmed to have the software running for the 14-day
demo period.
After the expiration of the trial period, the software
will cease to work. At this time, should you decide
to have the software installed permanently, you will
need to purchase the license for the full (permanent)
version of the software. This full software package
will also include a dongle programmed to operate the
software on a permanent basis and, at the same time,
to protect it from being duplicated in any way.

License protection
|
The latest versions of Lucid products are protected by the special software
by Rainbow Technologies. This protection does not require additional hardware
but uses a file with encoded information about your hardware that is called "license".
The license thus allows the protected application to run only on a specified computer.
If you want to run the application on another computer you have to purchase another
license. Installers for the products that use license protection scheme include a package
named "License Management". There are applications by Rainbow Technologies that need to
be installed on your computer for this scheme to run and the Support utilities by Lucid
that help you manage your licenses.
When you first start Lucid application it shows a dialog where you are prompted
to purchase and install a license and creates a file with the so called "locking codes"
which are effectively the encoded information about your computer hardware.
You are supposed to send this file to Lucid Support team and they generate your
license file. Do not edit these files or they will not work.
The license works only
for the application it was created for and only on a computer which locking codes
were collected to generate it. So you have to purchase a separate license for every
Lucid product you want to use.
You can get the Trial or Permanent license. Trial license is activated when you
first run the application and is valid during the period encoded in it.
Permanent license does not have the time limitations. Do not manipulate the
system date on your computer, it causes the deadlock of Lucid software.
When you get your license you need to install it on your computer.
Start the utility from the menu
/Start/Programs/Lucid Dream Software/Service Manager/Service Manager
.
Press the Additional button in the section License System.
Press the Install new license button, select the license file and wait while the
license is registered with the License manager service.
This page also provides information about the licenses installed on your computer and their state.
The License System section of the Service Manager utility has the button Print report
about the license system.
It generates a text file with the full information, which the technical support engineer
can use to help you resolve any issues with the licensing of Lucid products on your machine.
