I-Trap Version 3
A new paradigm in Trapping Technology!

I-Trap New Lucid Dream is proud to announce version 3 is ready for release. We are sure you will be pleased with all the new features, from improved trapping rules, easier to use setup, and dramatic new features like I-Link and I-Tone, to new workflow capabilities! I-Trap is clearly the better solution!

I-Trap was already one of the most sophisticated trapping products in the market.
With feedback from a large number of users we have significantly enhanced I-Trap!

Functional Improvements in Version 3

Vignette to Image trapping
  Vignette to Image
As artwork increases in complexity and new transparency options are used I-Trap has developed a sophisticated mechanism to handle trapping of images to vignettes.

Spot to Image special case
Spot to Image source   Spot to Image special
Now Spot colors can be set as a special case to selectively trap image to spot colors while not trapping images to process colors.

Separate trap color reduction controls for solid and tinted colors

no trap color reduction no trap color reduction 60% reduction for tinted and solid inks 60% reduction for tinted and solid inks 60% reduction for solid Black, 80% for tinted 60% reduction for solid Black, 80% for tinted no reduction for solid Black, 80% for tinted no reduction for solid Black, 80% for tinted
Trap Color is the result of combining colors to create a trap, and Trap color Reduction is the result of reducing the value of Trap Colors to lower the overall darkness of these combined colors. I-Trap now provides separate settings for 100% values and for tinted values so that 100% colors will keep a sharp solid edge and tinted values can be substantially reduced for best possible results.

Ease Of Use
  Ease of Use
I-Trap includes a significant improvement in the I-Trap/Harlequin Configuration Tool! This tool now lets you configure queues with multiple output plugins and input setup all in one simple step. Intuitive and easy to use the
I-Trap/Harlequin Configuration Tool's powerful user interface lets you set both front and back ends of trapping queues and take advantage of the I-Link technology plugins for automatic and interactive trapping.

Extensive Pre-Configured Setups:
With version 3 we are now shipping a concise but extensive set of pre-configured setups. These setups embrace the most commonly used options and trap sizes. They can be directly selected when configuring trap queues or when applying trap settings to interactive jobs. This means that right out of the box I-Trap can be configured for virtually any kind of trapping requirements with no experience required.

Workflow Management
  Workflow Management
I-Trap Page Manager now becomes truly a Workflow Job Management tool. With Version 3 this tool now becomes truly a Workflow Job Management tool. It has been re-modeled to display more information about the jobs and their pages. It implements toolbar buttons to call Ink re-mapping, add/remove jobs, change job's status, enable/disable the spool folder, edit the workflow parameters for I-Link plugins, and process jobs to final output.

New features to make I-Trap one of the most powerful products of its kind!

I-Link:
I-Trap is built around a plugin technology. I-Trap has both input and output plugin capabilities. I-Trap is built to "Plug" into Rip environments such as the Harlequin Rip and to output through output plugins.
Lucid now introduces I-Link that allows I-Trap to output the exact same ripped- trapped data to multiple different output plugins all at the same time! I-Link is based on the Lucid I-Trap highly compressed contone raster data format, and can be used with either trapped or un-trapped raster data.

I-Link is available for use either with the I-Trap Viewer or with the I-Trap Rip interface. I-Link allows plugins to be pre-configured. It is possible to calls the plugin's own user interface dialog for setting plugin options, then to save these settings to a configuration file that can then be passed back to the plugin with each job.

Examples of uses for I-Link include combining tasks that previously involved multiple passes through a Rip with different settings into a single Rip pass. Such as ripping a page at 2540 DPI and outputting both 2540 DPI screened 1 bit TIFF files and a 300 DPI contone JPEG file - all at the same time.

Currently I-Link can be used with the following plugins, more will follow in future releases:

Standard Plugin:
  I-Trap
The main plugin for routing trapped jobs back through the Harlequin Rip for second pass output to specific devices or HQ Rip formats.

Optional Plugins:
  I-JPEG  new
I-JPEG
The "Soft Proofing" plugin that can produce an excellent quality soft proof file in either, browser compatible RGB, or CMYK JPEG format - at any resolution!

  I-Tone  new
The screening plugin for I-Trap, I-Tone outputs screened 1 bit TIFF files directly from I-Trap. I-Tone uses configurable screening and currently ships with Agfa Balanced Screening and Agfa CristalRaster Screening. I-Tone also has Hybrid Screening based on these as well. I-Tone provides an unprecedented level of control including page, zone and data type screening and calibration controls. (See http://www.trapping.org/i-tone.html for more details)

  I-Delta  new
This plugin outputs a job into the Heidelberg Delta format. This allows Delta users to integrate the latest version 7 Harlequin Rip into their existing Delta workflow - effectively using the Harlequin/I-Trap as an "Offline Delta Rip".
